If you’ve flown into Manila and wondered where to rest between flights, or wanted a bayside base close to the malls and Entertainment City, Grand Westside Manila Bay has probably popped up in your search. It opened in June 2024 and holds the title of the largest hotel in the Philippines by room count, with 1,530 rooms across two 19-storey towers.

That size shapes almost everything about a stay here, the good and the not-so-good. Here’s what to know before you book.

Location and getting there

The hotel sits inside Westside City, a Megaworld township in Parañaque’s Entertainment City, between the airport and Manila Bay. Its biggest selling point is proximity: you’re close to the airport, the bay, and some of Metro Manila’s largest malls and integrated resorts.

Approximate distances from the hotel:

  • Ayala Malls Manila Bay – about an 8-minute walk
  • City of Dreams Manila – about 600 m to 1.5 km, depending on the source
  • Okada Manila – about 1 km
  • SM Mall of Asia – about a 4-minute drive
  • NAIA (Ninoy Aquino International Airport) – about 4 km
  • Baclaran LRT Station – about 2.4 km
  • Intramuros and Rizal Park – roughly 7–8 km, so plan for traffic

Airport transfers: Several room types on Klook include a free scheduled airport shuttle. Separately, the hotel lists an on-request transfer at PHP 2,000 per vehicle one-way (up to 6 people), arranged at least 24 hours before arrival. Check which one your rate includes before you land.

Rooms

There’s a wide range of room types, from compact standards to one-bedroom suites. Some rate plans bundle breakfast, the airport shuttle, or a one-way transfer.

Rooms come with air-conditioning, a safe, a desk, blackout curtains, free Wi-Fi, bottled water, and a bidet. Extra beds aren’t allowed, though a rollaway is listed at PHP 2,000 per night on some booking sites, so confirm with the hotel if you need one. Children 12 and under stay free when sharing existing beds.

Facilities and dining

For a property this size, the facilities list is solid, with a strong lean toward rest and relaxation.

  • Pools: An outdoor pool with bay views, a lap pool, and a separate kids’ pool
  • Wellness: Fitness center, sauna, steam room, and spa treatments (spa services carry a fee)
  • Dining: Café by Westside for international buffets, LaMeza for Filipino cuisine, plus Zabana Bar and the poolside Plunge Bar
  • Inclusive options: Halal-certified dining and Muslim-friendly rooms
  • Practical extras: 24-hour front desk, concierge, luggage storage, room service, laundry (paid), an ATM, and free parking (limited, first-come)
  • Accessibility: Wheelchair-accessible areas and accessible bathrooms

Breakfast pricing for kids is worth noting: ages 0–5 eat free on breakfast-included rates, ages 6–12 get 50% off, and 13 and up pay the adult rate.

What guests like

Based on Klook’s guest scores (4.8 for location, service, and cleanliness) and recurring themes in reviews across booking sites:

  • Convenient location – close to NAIA, the bay, and major malls, which makes it popular for layovers and staycations
  • Clean, modern rooms – it’s a newer property, and many guests mention spotless rooms and a pleasant-smelling lobby
  • Friendly service – staff come up often in reviews, with some guests mentioning room upgrades and birthday surprises
  • Breakfast buffet – frequently praised for variety and taste
  • Wellness perks – complimentary sauna and steam rooms are a nice touch at this price point
  • Good value – rates start lower than many nearby resort hotels in Entertainment City
  • Views – bay- and city-facing rooms get positive mentions, especially around sunset

Things to consider

No hotel is perfect, and a 1,530-room property comes with its own trade-offs. These are the issues that come up in reviews:

  • Crowds at peak times – some guests report long waits at check-in and breakfast, and a busy pool on weekends and holidays
  • Elevator waits – at least one recent reviewer mentioned only one elevator being available during their stay
  • Small inconsistencies – occasional notes about missing toiletries or uneven service at the front desk
  • Credit card only – the property doesn’t accept cash, which can catch travelers off guard
  • No extra beds – families needing more sleeping space may have to book a connecting or family room
  • Not walkable to old Manila – Intramuros and Rizal Park are 7–8 km away, so you’ll rely on Grab or taxis
  • Big-hotel feel – if you prefer intimate boutique stays, the scale here may feel impersonal

Is it a good fit for solo travelers?

For many solo trips, yes, especially if your plans center on the airport or the bay area.

It suits you if you’re:

  • On a layover or early flight and want a comfortable, low-stress base near NAIA
  • Planning a solo staycation built around a pool, sauna, and a good breakfast
  • Visiting Manila Bay, the malls, or a concert or event at Mall of Asia Arena or SMX
  • Someone who values 24-hour security, CCTV, and a staffed front desk when traveling alone

You might prefer somewhere else if you’re:

  • Hoping to explore heritage Manila on foot (look at hotels in Ermita, Malate, or Intramuros instead)
  • Craving a quiet, intimate boutique stay
  • Traveling on a peak holiday weekend and dislike crowds

A small solo tip: a standard queen room with the free scheduled shuttle is usually the most practical pick if you’re flying in or out.

Heads-up: a new name is coming

In late 2025, Megaworld and Accor announced that Grand Westside will be rebranded as Mövenpick Manila Bay Westside, set to become the largest Mövenpick hotel in the world. The rebrand was targeted for 2026 and includes systems upgrades, four specialty dining outlets, Mövenpick’s complimentary afternoon Chocolate Hour, and a planned sky bridge to the upcoming Westside City casino and Grand Opera House.

As of this writing, Klook still lists the property as Grand Westside Manila Bay. If you see either name while booking, it’s the same building. Expect some changes in branding, menus, and services during the transition.

Booking tips

  1. Compare rate plans, not just rooms. The same room can come with or without breakfast, the airport shuttle, or a one-way transfer.
  2. Book weekdays if you can. Reviews of crowding cluster around weekends and holidays.
  3. Ask for a bay-view room if sunsets matter to you, and request a higher floor away from the elevators.
  4. Bring a credit card. The hotel doesn’t take cash, and a deposit may be required at check-in.
  5. Pack your own toiletries as a backup, just in case.
  6. Confirm your shuttle schedule with the hotel at least 24 hours before arrival.
